About the role

We are looking to recruit a Corporate Lead Officer to join our ambitious leadership team to lead and develop ‘Porth Cynnal Specialist Services’ on a permanent, full time basis.

This exciting position provides the opportunity to be a key partner in the implementation of a pioneering integrated services delivery model and further developing strengths-based, outcome-focussed services for the people of Ceredigion.

As part of our vision to ensure that every child, young person and adult in Ceredigion is able to reach their full potential we are implementing an integrated service delivery model (see Recruitment Pack) that will combine a range of current services and teams into early intervention, prevention and through age specialist services. This model will cover 4 main service areas:

  • Initial Contact services – which will be the single access point into Porth Ceredigion Integrated Services for residents and external agencies
  • Porth Ceredigion – will be the decision making hub that will triage and determine the level of need for all cases and the best outcomes for those individuals.
  • Porth Cymorth Cynnar – will provide early help, prevention and intervention services with the aim of identifying need and offering support before issues and concerns become too great.
  • Porth Cynnal – will provide specialist services for all clients based on need and not age, including support with Substance Misuse, Mental Health, Extended Support, Safeguarding and Planned Care.

Following the further development of the integrated services model the statutory role of Director of Social Services and Deputy Director of Social Services will be assigned. The interim arrangements currently in place will continue until such time as this is appropriate.

As Corporate Lead Officer – Porth Cynnal you will be the lead advisor to the Council on all matters relating to Porth Cynnal Specialist Services. Responsibilities will include the following services and functions:

  • Safeguarding
  • Mental Health
  • Planned Care and Support Service
  • Substance Misuse
  • Extended Support Services (Disability)
  • Quality Assurance and Independent Review

We are looking for a dynamic leader who embraces the challenges that a multi-dimensional leadership role in modern local government brings. Our ideal candidate will have a strong desire to use creative and innovative approaches to improve service delivery and will harness the potential of existing staff to develop a resilient, agile and forward thinking service.

In addition to the above, we require an individual with a degree of fluency in the Welsh language. A successful applicant without the required Welsh language skill will be fully supported to reach the desired standard within two years of appointment.

In exchange for your skills and commitment we will offer you a range of employee benefits including flexible working hours, competitive annual leave allowance, generous pension contribution scheme, life style savings, discounted gym membership and much more.  Information about the employee benefits we offer can be found here.
