This is post has arisen due to Ceredigion County Council’s restructuring and introduction of Through age model, Porth Ceredigion.
We are now looking to bring the counselling services in-house and as part of that process we are seeking to appoint a qualified senior school based counsellor to provide overall supervision, management and co-ordinated leadership for the school based counselling service. This will entail service evaluation, collecting and analysis of data to submit to Welsh Government and other agencies and contribution to the wider Inclusion Service Delivery Plan, including the attendance and contribution in local authority strategic groups. In addition, provide a counselling service to school based students on an individual casework basis through a confidential appointments system, drop-in service and on-line counselling as required.
We welcome applications from those who hold a Professional Diploma in Counselling and are accredited / registered with the BACP or UKCP or equivalent to commence immediately subject to interview and DBS check.
You will join the team at an exciting time as we move forward in managing the counselling service in house. We have a friendly, lively and innovative Educational Psychologist and School Based Counselling Team who are committed to assisting the LEA in the achievement of increased inclusion and raising educational standards. Committed to the concept of inclusive education, you will have an understanding of the challenges facing education with increased needs relating to mental health and wellbeing and be a passionate supporter of high expectations and achievement for all pupils.

The Signs of Safety Practice Framework will underpin all aspects of service delivery across the corporate Organisation. This will ensure that there is greater consistency and transparency in what individuals and families can expect from us across the continuum of need. The Signs of Safety Framework ensures there is emphasis on building individual, family and community strengths and robust assessment to identify clear goals, which will enable the organisation to deliver the right help at the right time to people in Ceredigion.

Safeguarding and child protection are key priorities for us. We aim to support vulnerable children and young people to ensure they are as safe as they can possibly be. We and our educational establishments acknowledge that children and young people have a right to protection and will take action to safeguard their welfare. Each member of staff and volunteer is expected to share this commitment, and we will require an Enhanced Check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), formerly CRB.
