About the role

We are looking to recruit a Corporate Performance and Improvement Officer to join our Performance and Research Team on a permanent, full time basis.

We are looking for an individual to support the performance and risk functions of the Council by analysing performance data, developing options for improvement and producing regular reports for a variety of audiences. With a high degree of computer literacy and analytical skills, the successful applicant will be experienced in performance and risk management techniques, implementing performance monitoring systems, data visualisation and meeting statutory performance returns.

The person we are looking for will possess the ability to author, and present reports and strategies for both internal and external audiences. This role will play an integral in developing our performance and risk processes and in embedding a performance management culture across the organisation.

On a day to day basis you will: 

  • Analyse performance data and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Support colleagues to manage their risks and produce risk reports for Leadership Group and Audit Committee.
  • Support colleagues to manage performance and produce reports for the Quarterly Performance Board.
  • Submit statutory performance returns to Welsh Government and other bodies.
  • To work with Audit Wales to ensure the Council has robust monitoring processes in place for managing audit recommendations.
  • Monitor the Council’s performance against its Wellbeing Objectives and Corporate Priorities.
  • Prepare the Council’s Corporate Strategy and Annual Report including a review of the Well-being Objectives.
  • Coordinate the Council’s annual business planning process.
  • To maintain and develop the Council’s corporate performance management system (Teifi Performance)

In addition to the above, we require an individual with a degree of fluency in the Welsh language. A successful applicant without the required Welsh language skill will be fully supported to reach the desired standard within two years of appointment.
