A rare opportunity has arisen for a qualified Social worker to join a well-established regional adoption service in Mid & West Wales. Although a smaller team, Ceredigion Adoption Service sits within the wider Mid and West Wales adoption Service and is managed centrally from the host authority of Carmarthenshire.
The role involves all aspects of adoption work from recruitment, training and assessment, to family finding, intermediary and post adoption support. Having received recent investment from the Welsh Assembly Government in 2019 to develop post adoption Support services the team is able to draw upon a number of specialist, therapeutic and direct working practitioners and models which support the children and families who access our services.
This recent investment has also seen an increase in the available training for staff and offers opportunity for professional development and greater knowledge and understanding in more specialist areas relating to the needs of Looked After children and their adopted families.
We are looking for an experienced qualified social worker with a clear understanding of Adoption Legislation, who is able to work independently and remotely to maintain & manage caseload whilst working with colleagues and a variety of other agencies to meet the needs of children and adults affected by adoption.
The post is part-time and although managed from Carmarthen, you will work closely with Colleagues in Ceredigion where there is an innovative transformation underway to develop a through-age service and a strong commitment to the Signs of safety approach to build on individual strengths.
In addition to the above, we require an individual with a degree of fluency in the Welsh language. A successful applicant without the required Welsh language skill will be fully supported to reach the desired standard within two years of appointment.
In exchange for your skills and commitment, we will offer you a range of employee benefits including flexible hours scheme, competitive annual leave allowance and a generous pension contribution scheme. More information about our wide-range of employee benefits can be found here. In addition, we are committed to developing our people and will not only provide support to enable you to quickly and confidently take ownership of this role’s key areas of responsibility but in addition, we are committed to supporting your development in order that you can progress your career with us.
Should you wish require any further information about this role please contact: Annette Jones on Annette.Jones@ceredigion.gov.uk.
