About the role

Are you 16 and just starting out in the world of work? Are you looking for a career change or returning to work following unemployment or a career break? An apprenticeship with us offers an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and develop your career whilst earning a wage!

Join the busy Childcare Unit located within Schools Service and develop the skills to promote and support development opportunities for the childcare sector across Ceredigion.

The Childcare Unit offers a variety of support for the registered and unregistered childcare sector across the county. This includes arranging relevant mandatory and continuous professional development training opportunities, sharing information via a variety of methods, administering grant opportunities for the sector and much more.

As a key part of the team, you will provide day to day general administration support including responding to queries by phone and email. Fluent in Welsh and English you will need good IT, organisational and people skills to follow the grant processing systems, collation of reports and evidence of spend.

Working closely with the other services, you will assist in gathering and preparing reports, and provide support to the implementation of the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment action plan.

The usual location for this post is Canolfan Rheidol, Aberystwyth, however due to the hybrid model you will be given the option to work from home.  It is therefore essential that you have access to a reliable internet connection and suitable space to work from home.

Your role as an apprentice will include completing a Level 2 qualification in Business Administration as part of your Apprenticeship. Your work pattern will incorporate study leave in order to complete your apprenticeship. Workshops will be held online on a monthly basis by our training provider, Ceredigion Training.

Unfortunately, you will not be eligible to apply for this apprenticeship if you hold:

  • a degree in any subject;
  • a BTEC or GCSE or higher-level qualification in Business Administration.

Please note that once submitted, all applications will be subject to apprenticeship training provider eligibility checks. This is completed using the information you have provided on your application form.

Please ensure that you read the job description and person specification thoroughly, as well as the FAQs on our early careers web page to check the eligibility requirements.
