About the role

Theatr Felinfach is looking to recruit a Theatre Technician (Lighting and Digital) to join Theatr Felinfach, Schools and Culture Service, on a permanent, full-time contract.

You will collaborate with a creative team that includes a Stage Manager/Sound Technician and Creative Officers. We are looking for people who enjoy working with the community and being in the middle of the creative buzz of Theatr Felinfach. The post holder will be required to be able to communicate in Welsh and English.

For this role:

We are looking for a versatile technician to provide lighting services and digital expertise at Theatr Felinfach, for community and professional productions and projects. The work will include: designing and planning lighting for productions and projects; providing advice and training to various groups, e.g. lighting, film work.

Day to day you will:

  • prepare lighting plans for various productions in the theatre by touring companies, in-house productions and for occasional productions in other locations
  • maintain the equipment and lighting rig developing a detailed knowledge of the system and the lighting desk
  • look for opportunities to improve the environmental performance of the theatre by identifying equipment and systems that could reduce our carbon footprint
  • sharing responsibility with fellow technician to maintain and the theatre’s technical equipment and manage the loan/hire system of equipment to external bodies
  • contribute expertise and advice to various groups

Our ideal candidate:

We want to recruit an individual with technical experience of theatre work and digital media, experience of working with various community groups, experience of health and safety systems and procedures and experience of working on creative productions of all kinds.

You will have a range of high level technical and digital skills in theatre, lighting, sound, film and a thorough knowledge of theatre health and safety requirements and procedures. You will have an understanding of Final Cut Pro software and familiarity with lighting systems e.g. ION XE20 Desk.

The post holders will be required to be able to communicate in Welsh and English and have a full driving license and be the owner of a vehicle.
