About the role

This contract is on a fixed term basis until 30/04/2025.

As part of the continued development of the Corporate Service Support structure an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Service Support Officer to be recruited into the structure.

The ideal candidate would have experience of working within an administrative setting, with a strong background in minute taking.

The role although based within the Corporate Service Support Team will primarily be providing support to two areas initially:

  • Housing Service, specifically assistance within Housing Options team and support for Leasing Scheme Wales. Leasing Scheme Wales is a growing portfolio of affordable housing leased by the Council to provide for homelessness need.
  • Economy and Regeneration Growing Mid Wales Team. The team has responsibility for delivering a number of initiatives including the Mid Wales Growth Deal – a capital funding programme to support regionally significant economic infrastructure and job creation.

We are seeking a candidate with excellent IT skills and who can work within multi-disciplinary teams and with staff at all levels throughout the authority. You will be expected to undertake various administration duties, including dealing with telephone calls, handling incoming and outgoing correspondence, minute taking, organising meetings and events, creating and monitoring action logs as well as many other activities associated to a busy office environment.

Due to the way the new service has been set up this would be a great opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of services throughout the Council, so if you like a varied and fast moving working day then this could be the opportunity for you.

Democratic Services

We play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient management of the decision-making process of the Council, including support and advice to Councillors; PA, administrative and project management support to all service areas; facilitating elections; the communications team; translation and the Welsh Language policy officer.  Our key functions include: 

  • Corporate Service Support: PA and Administrative support; Business support including project management and minute taking.
  • Democratic Services: Councillors; Council, Cabinet, Overview and Scrutiny Committees and Regulatory Committees.
  • Electoral Services: General and local elections; Management of electoral register.
