About the role

Newly Qualified Social Workers will commence on Grade 9 pay and job description before progressing to grade 10 after 2 years in post. Experienced social workers will commence at Grade 10 pay and job description. Both job descriptions can be viewed below.

This position qualifies for a market supplement payment of £200 per month. Please note this additional payment will be reviewed on 31 March 2025.

The successful candidate may be eligible to up to a maximum of £8,000 (including VAT) towards the cost of expenses incurred due of relocating to Ceredigion.

We are looking to recruit a children’s Social Worker to join the Through Age Team on a full-time basis. The team is an integrated decision-making hub which aims to support families with information and advice or intervention. This is an exciting role within the service providing the opportunity to undertake, assessments and implement packages of care to support our organization’s aim to enable, children/ family resilience more appropriate services following Child and Family Assessment. 

About the role:

The role is one of constructing and implementing Care and Support Plans under Part 4 and 6 of the SSWBA 2014 and other key social care legislations in assessing, supporting, and safeguarding children and adults who need care and support or who are at risk of harm by assisting individuals and their families or networks to resolve major difficulties, enhancing their coping skills & establishing their independence and resilience. Porth Gofal Team is the heart of service provision that focuses on ensuring that Families receive the intervention that is best placed to meet their needs or where else to guide them to early help or specialist services. 

What Porth Gofal Team provides: 

  • a responsive service to Citizens living in Ceredigion
  • to assist individuals and families to deal with matters which cause them difficulties in daily living
  • to pursue or contribute to enquiries and where necessary to intervene to protect those who are vulnerable or in danger of significant harm
  • applies a Strength based needs assessment focusing on service user choice and control using the Signs of Safety framework
  • a reduction in the time Social Care professionals spend in determining eligibility for statutory services
  • legislatively compliant service that meets the statutory requirements of the SSWBA 2014
  • provides information, advice and assistance about community health and social care services for adults that improves the connection between people and their communities
  • encourages a balanced approach to the assessment of need ensuring that citizens are at the centre of conversations, decisions and the “what matters” conversation takes place
  • provide more consistent, coordinated assessment for care and support
  • improve the flow of information between services, resulting in faster decisions being made about people’s needs and support
  • to work to ensure quality of service with colleagues in the statutory and independent sector
  • to ensure multi-agency approach in empowering service-users to speak for themselves whilst ensuring they are safe and protected

  • knowledge of care assessment and support planning
  • a thorough knowledge and understanding of legislation relevant to work with individuals, their families, and their carers
  • a commitment to integrated working with a focus on positive rehabilitation outcomes for the citizens are essential
  • maintain a flexible approach to the pattern of work which reflects the changing needs of the service and the circumstances of the community
  • the ability to travel throughout the county is essential
  • degree in social work or other equivalent qualification
  • registration with Social Care Wales
  • a bilingual policy is in operation and candidates who do not have the linguistic ability in Welsh will be supported and encouraged to achieve the ALTE standard within 2 years
