Ysgol Tal-y-Bont and Ysgol Craig yr Wylfa Governing Bodies are looking for an energetic and motivated candidate to lead the two schools. This position is a great opportunity to further develop the relationship that has already been established between the two schools, for the benefit of the learners. Both schools are strongly anchored in their local communities.
Ysgol Tal-y-Bont is located in the village of Tal-y-bont and serves the village and the wide rural area stretching from the village of Glandyfi in the North to Bontygoch in the South East. Welsh-medium education is provided for pupils between 4 and 11 years of age.
There are currently 57 pupils on roll within three mixed age classes. Around 44% of pupils come from Welsh-speaking backgrounds.
The school employs a Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher and the equivalent of 1.8 other full-time teaching staff as well as 4 part-time teaching assistants. A successful inspection was conducted by ESTYN in June 2024 in which it was noted that “Ysgol Tal-y-Bont is a caring, happy and family-oriented community. All staff work together effectively to provide an inclusive and friendly tone where pupils behave respectfully and politely. Pupils show positive attitudes to learning and make solid progress from their starting points.”
Ysgol Craig yr Wylfa is located in the heart of the seaside village of Borth and pupils attend from nearby villages up to Ynyslas and Clarach. Welsh-medium education is provided for pupils between 4 and 11 years of age. The school runs a weekly forest school.

The Headteacher has some teaching commintment across both schools.
The two schools are already working well together on a cross-section of areas, such as developing the Curriculum for Wales (CfW), quality assuring learning and teaching, and sharing good practice and resources. It is desired to appoint a dedicated and innovative individual to promote the current good standards, and further build on the life, work and reputation of both schools, ensuring that both schools continue to thrive and take advantage of the opportunities of the future.
