About the role

Please note that the advertised salary for this position is subject to a pending pay award. The final salary will be adjusted in line with the nationally agreed pay award.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Seasonal Harbour Assistant to join our team and help to manage the county’s historic harbours. This role would be perfect for someone who has experience in the maritime industry or for someone looking to gain experience in the sector.

We are looking to recruit individual(s) who is:

  • enthusiastic, approachable and have excellent communication skills
  • observant and have an eye for detail
  • comfortable to work unsupervised and use their own initiative
  • happy to work outside in all weather conditions
  • ability to use ICT
  • flexible and adaptable as there will be the requirement for the post holder to travel to the other locations in the County

On a day to day basis you will:

  • undertake a variety of administration and manual tasks associated with the delivery of Ceredigion’s Harbour Service across the County
  • represent the Authority in relation to Harbour matters
  • carry out regular accurate checks of the harbours to ensure that the Council can fulfil its statutory requirements and continues to provide a safe setting for those using the harbour

This role includes weekend and bank holiday working as part of a normal working week or rota. The successful candidate will be entitled to the following pay:

  • Saturday – Time and a quarter
  • Sunday – Time and a half
  • Bank Holiday – Choice of double time or, single time and a day off in lieu
