About the role

Applications are invited for a Lunchtime Supervisor for 1 hour per day to join our friendly team of staff who supervise pupils between 11:45am and 12:45pm, Monday to Friday during term time.

Role Overview:
To ensure the safety, wellbeing, and appropriate behaviour of pupils during the lunchtime period, both in the refectory and during playtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise pupils in the refectory, promoting good behaviour, hygiene, and order.
  • Assist with the efficient serving of meals, including handing out plates of food to pupils where required.
  • Monitor pupils while eating, ensuring a calm and safe environment.
  • Encourage positive interaction and adherence to school rules.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the dining area in line with school expectations.
  • Supervise pupils during playtime after lunch, either outdoors or indoors as required.
  • Ensure pupils’ safety at all times and respond promptly to any incidents or concerns.
  • Manage behaviour in line with school policies, promoting respect and inclusion.
  • Support and encourage safe, active, and positive play.

General Duties:

  • Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour policies of the school.
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or concerns to the appropriate staff.
  • Work as part of a team to provide a safe and supportive lunchtime environment.

Person Specification

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to supervise and manage groups of children effectively.
  • Calm, patient, and approachable manner.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and health and safety practices.
