About the role

Please note that the advertised salary for this position is subject to the pending 2026/2027 national pay award. The final salary will be adjusted accordingly once this has been agreed.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Purchase to Payments (P2P) Support Officer to join our busy Purchases to Payments team who deal with ordering and payments on behalf of a wide range of Council services.

You will be involved in ensuring accurate and compliant processes are followed as you support the Supplier journey from an initial Purchase Order through to Payment for their goods, works or services.

We are looking for someone with practical experience in purchasing and / or invoice processing using electronic systems.

About the role

This role needs an individual who has a strong appreciation of the importance of attention to detail and deadlines but is a people-person able to build and sustain relationships with staff, customers and suppliers to respond to day-to-day challenges with a resourceful and positive attitude.

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Provide guidance and support to staff raising orders
  • Check invoices to make sure they are correct and not previously paid and take action as necessary
  • Deal with queries, monitor mailboxes and allocate tasks
  • Manage rotas and provide basic systems training to users
  • Check credit card transactions.

The successful candidate must show flexibility and commitment in order to meet deadlines and timescales. Reliability and an ability to undertake transactional related tasks with accuracy using electronic systems are essential.
