Ceredigion County Council is seeking a motivated and professional individual to join our Parking Services Team as a Parking Services Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting road safety, improving access to town centres and tourist destinations, and helping to keep traffic moving efficiently across the county.

The role is varied, and you will work across a range of locations throughout Ceredigion, helping to ensure parking regulations are followed fairly and consistently while providing a visible and positive presence within our communities.

About the role

As a Parking Services Officer, you will:

  • Patrol on-street and off-street parking locations across Ceredigion.
  • Help maintain safe, accessible and well-managed roads, streets and car parks.
  • Support the operation of Council car parks and parking equipment.
  • Identify and report issues affecting parking facilities and traffic management.
  • Provide advice, guidance and assistance to residents, businesses and visitors.
  • Monitor parking compliance and issue Penalty Charge Notices.
  • Act as a professional ambassador for Ceredigion County Council.

This is a role for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is confident dealing with people from all walks of life, and can remain calm, fair and professional when handling challenging situations.

What we’re looking for

We would like to hear from you if you:

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Are self-motivated, dependable and able to manage your workload effectively while working as part of a supportive team.
  • Are observant, organised and pay attention to detail.
  • Have experience working with the public in a customer-focused environment.
  • Can use professional judgement, make balanced decisions and apply rules fairly and consistently.
  • Are comfortable using technology and handheld devices.
  • Hold a full UK manual driving licence.
  • Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Can speak Welsh or are willing and able to work towards the Welsh language standards required for the post, as detailed in the Person Specification.

Previous parking enforcement experience is welcome but not essential. We are committed to developing employees and will provide training and support to help you succeed in the role.

Training and development

We will provide:

  • A comprehensive induction and on-the-job training.
  • Support to achieve the City & Guilds Level 2 Award for Parking Enforcement Officers, if not already held.
  • Ongoing professional training.
